And beside you, both in private AND public they will stay.
A True Friend doesn't whisper support just in the dark
And then simply disappear as daylight does embark.
A True Friend has your back, they won't let you fall.
When you stand accused, they will stand beside you tall.
A True Friend doesn't give their word to keep your confidence,
And then onto others your words they carelessly dispense.
A True Friend doesn't hesitate to support and to defend,
Because this is what it means to be a REAL TRUE FRIEND!

-Poet note: If I had a dollar for every time someone has said to me that they are my friend and when it came right
down to the nitty-gritty, they weren't any kind of friend at all, I'd have quite a bit of money. So many people 'pretend'
to be a friend, but when they have to stand up to the plate and prove it, they fall short, way short. I've had so-called
friends tell me they agree with me and support me 'in private' but then when others are around, have changed their
whole tune. Still others, and this holds true for so many people, you go to them to get something worked out in your
mind and they tell you that the discussion won't go any further than between you and them. So what do people
usually do? Why, they tell their friend(s), their family, spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, etc.. THIS is NOT keeping one's
given word! Very few people do I trust because most do not give, then "honour" their word.
